Details of living people are not published on this site. Where a living person appears in a record, that record may be held privately in the research archive without being made public.

Sensitive historical material

This archive documents enslavement, contested tribal identity and administrative decisions that harmed real families. Records are presented with their original wording intact, including terminology that is offensive today, because altering the record would misrepresent the evidence. Editorial notes explain that context.
